Does Fox News now have an All-Amnesty lineup? Looks like it. Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly have now fallen in line behind World Citizen Rupert Murdoch’s support of ”sweeping, generous immigration reform,” including a “path to citizenship.” Karl Rove was always on board, of course.
What about Fox News’ viewers? Are they going to go along like sheep? They now have no network that represents their perspective on what seems to be a key issue for Obama’s second term. Is it time for a new Fox? (Wouldn’t it be time for a new Fox anyway? That lineup has been stale for years.) …The Republican Party isn't conservative enough; Fox News isn't conservative enough. Pretty soon they'll be telling each other what a liberal rag National Review turned into.
Soon enough there'll be no place for them to go for new voters except outer space.
Outer space, Pajamas Media, same thing. Insofar as it's an infinite space of airless, cold darkness where if you're not in a bubble your blood will boil and your head will explode, at least.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why Kaus feels they need a new Fox. He should just take the normal wingnut route: start a blog, write a bunch of posts about "destroying old media," accomplish nothing, give up after six months, get a sinecure in some organization at the ass-end of the GOP machine.
ReplyDeleteWait, Kaus is at the Daily Caller now? Guess he's already walked that path.
Well, it looks like El Hijo de Puta Cabra will keep fighting the lonely fight against the brown menace, even after his brethren have turned tail in their effort to do something as tawdry as win an election. Even as his Daily Bawler colleagues concern themselves with such weighty matters as "Kate Upton washes Mercedes in slow motion, America's heart stops [VIDEO]", this boy isn't just standing on the burning deck whence all but he had fled, his feet are nailed to that mother. What a hill to die on!
ReplyDeleteHoly shit, that's actually one of their articles. I thought it was one of those sketchy "around the web" referral links that are all over the place, but no, it's legitimately on DC. Written by someone who's brought us such hard-hitting pieces as "The cast of 'Varsity Blues': Where
ReplyDeleteAre They Now?" and "Dunking Kitten Helps Out With Dirty Laundry."
I wonder how much they pay that woman. I also wonder how many J-school grads wind up writing linkbait for third-rate websites.
Tucker offered him all the goats he can blow.
ReplyDelete... Soon enough there'll be no place for them to go for new voters except outer space ...
ReplyDeleteNot nearly soon enough ;-)
Thank you for not putting up a link. I don't know who kate upton is but I am just foolish enough to have clicked on a link to find out.
ReplyDeleteSoon enough there'll be no place for them to go for
ReplyDeletenew voters except outer space.
Time to build the B
Ark!
OK, I admit I wandered over to the Mickey Kaus link and found myself falling into bizarro world in which roots grow into the air and if you follow one link you end up with this kind of craziness from Bloomberg news headlined "Clarence Thomas Brilliantly Breaks Silence"
ReplyDeleteWhile that streak officially continues, Thomas now has spoken up during an oral argument.
Brilliant! Let the rest of the world debate what Thomas was talking about or whether his silent streak remains intact; the pressure is off. The clock is reset to zero as pundits are left to mull over the meaning of his muffled words. Was he making a joke at the expense of Yale Law School, his alma mater? Probably. Witnesses certainly say so. What’s clear is that this isn’t the bitter observation of a taciturn man who once felt so diminished by his Yale experience that he slapped a 15¢ price tag on his degree. Thomas was happily joking around.
That doesn’t exactly fit the script of the associate justice who has stayed silent all these years. In media coverage, Thomas is often portrayed as an isolated and disengaged member of the bench, a man who can look a little irritated and bored when listening to cases. He’s spoken in public about the futility of his colleagues who “badger” lawyers as they present a case, instead of simply listening to what’s being said. Rather than viewing questions as part of a probing effort to get at the truth, he sees such interference as rude and unhelpful.
Since he last asked a question on Feb. 22, 2006, reporters have marked each anniversary by updating the scorecard. Editorials called on him to speak. Pundits mused over why the justice chose to keep his mouth shut. Embarrassment over some imagined trace of his childhood Gullah language lingering in his accent? Anger at being cast as some blindly loyal sidekick to Justice Antonin Scalia? Thomas himself has been cryptic on the issue. When asked about his silence in court, he’d typically sweep away the question or talk of it as another issue manufactured by the media.
She's the eldest sister of Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Kate Downton, the Abbess.
ReplyDeleteAlso this is backwards:
ReplyDeleteSoon enough there'll be no place for them to go for new voters except outer space.
Its that the voters will have no place to turn for news but their tooth filings.
Did it mention that until now there had been nothing for him to have said? I heard that one on the grapevine. Stupid Constitution.
ReplyDelete"(Confederate) Yankee go home!"
ReplyDeleteIN SPACE, NO ONE CAN HEAR YOU SKREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
ReplyDeletei'll just leave this here.
ReplyDelete"Soon enough there'll be no place for them to go for new voters except outer space." I thought he was worried about outside agitators?
ReplyDeleteAs soon as Mickey gets into outer space, I'd like him to roll down the window of the capsule and tell me what the weather's like...
ReplyDeleteAnd Mickey Kaus is a "liberal," just one who hates teacher's unions and immigration and ezra klein and cares nothing about anything else
ReplyDeleteThis is as predictable as sunrise. Of COURSE Fox News has become too left-leaning! Hell, Allen West was screeching about this before scuttling off the beach.
ReplyDeleteIt won't be too long before, yes, NRO is deemed too liberal, and even the John Birch Society is suspected of being soft.
The John Birch Society can never be suspected of being soft--flaccid maybe. That's why they have all those guns.
ReplyDeleteI thought that the new Fox was that Youtube video of the chimpanzee pissing in his own mouth.
ReplyDeleteIts time for another episode of Byron D. LeBokweth the 7th, RACIST IN THE YEAR 3000!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NItSzag0Tw
At this rate, they'll soon be moaning about those damn liberals Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon and George W. Bush.
ReplyDelete"That lineup has been stale for years."
ReplyDeleteUh-huh. Fox News has a "lineup" like the Washington Generals have "a starting five."
Fox showed their True Colors when they fired Glen Blech.
ReplyDeleteHey now, there's always the KKK.
ReplyDeleteKate Upton is an SI swimsuit model. I have heard that men find her attractive.
ReplyDeleteGeorge W. who?
ReplyDeleteHot, great body, but still a little jailbaity.
ReplyDeleteOr even De La Beckwith. I miss how JS-Kit let me delete my stupidity.
ReplyDelete"There's no one left but thee and me, and we're not sure of thee!" The Chad Mitchell Trio's song "The John Birch Society," c. 1962 ... some things never change.
ReplyDeleteI would like to penetrate this comment with my internal second set of jaws.
ReplyDeleteAhem. Don't like to repeat myself, but I did post this comment on the wrong thread.
ReplyDeleteWell, with Hitler being liberal and all, it does make a strange kind of sense that conservatism can only be failed because being to the right of Hitler is really very hard.
Laugh all you want, but that's why Gun Owners of America was founded: the NRA was going soft.
ReplyDeleteSlanderous! It's blowing, not fucking.
ReplyDeleteSoon enough there'll be no place for them to go for new voters except outer space.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, they'll stay on earth and work to limit those who are allowed to vote. Funny thing that never comes up in all the gun talk where they claim the need of an armed citizenry to keep government tyranny in check. More likely the way it will go down will be an armed citizenry to keep a tyrannical government in power. Consider the type of citizenry that is armed.
I wasn't kidding about this being a predictable phenomenon. That's the thing with rightwing movements. They all eventually develop a dynamic where "purity" becomes paramount. Eventually the movement consumes itself as the definition of acceptable narrows ever further. (Either that or the movement overthrows the government).
ReplyDeleteYeah, in the House hearings on Benghazi, Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R- Florida) told Hillary that she is welcome in Florida, but reminded her that she only has one vote; as if it were Republicans who were being disenfranchised in Florida, or as if Clinton would vote in New York and Florida because she's fundamentally dishonest. Oh to be a fly inside Ms. Clinton's head while the fat slob from Florida nattered on and on and on and on.
ReplyDeleteIt was beautiful that the house member who demonstrated the best grasp of the State Department and its importance is from Pago Pago.
Of COURSE Fox News has become too left-leaning!
ReplyDeleteThe frequent editorial advice to viewers about voting Democrat should have been a giveaway.
They now have no network that represents their perspective on what seems to be a key issue for Obama’s second term.
ReplyDeleteMickey's lack of faith in the power of the Free Market to supply a demand is... disturbing. One can only urge him to invest every cent he has in his own replacement for Fox, free from editorial spin, devoted to telling viewers exactly what they already think.
They file their teeth? Isn't that just Malkin?
ReplyDeleteUmm, I don't think Kaus much cares, as long as goats are involved. But, yeah, edited for consistency.
ReplyDelete"Pretty soon they'll be telling each other what a liberal rag National Review turned into." I believe "they" already did, around the time Ronald Reagan was elected President. But the moment passed. It'll pass again.
ReplyDeleteI received a strange message on the shortwave tonight:
ReplyDelete[...static...bwoop!...] "Greetings from Xzodnar 5, Earthlings. We would love to come to your planet and join the Republican Party, but our leaders slashed the space travel program budget two centuries ago." [...squeal!!...static...bwoop!...]
Well, if they're going into space, bon voyage. I wish them well on the immigration process at Tau Ceti Island--hope they get their names changed by a bored clerk who can't be assed to spell Reynolds or Kaus.
ReplyDeleteThey would already, if they hadn't indulged in a huge amount of revisionism. Remember the adviser guy snapping "Reagan never raised taxes." on TV?
ReplyDeleteOh lordy, I clicked on the link Roy left at the end of his post. Luckilly there were only 4 comments there at the time, so I didn't have to get out of the boat for very long.
ReplyDeleteLooking at Bobby Jindal, I think they've already tapped into the outer space market.
ReplyDeleteI swear I read that last sentence as "guess he's already wanked that path" ...
ReplyDeleteI don't even understand how I stopped up here, however I believed this publish was great. I do not know who you might be however definitely you're going to a well-known blogger
